Imago DEI Program

Grounded in the Christian tenet and belief that each person is created in the image of God (Imago Dei) and therefore possesses inherent dignity, the Imago DEI Program invites Catholic educators to consider curricular resources, pedagogical practices, and building-wide policies through the eyes– through the eyes of God.

Imago DEI Goals

Recognizing the important role that classroom teachers and leaders play in bringing about a more just world, the Imago DEI program utilizes Catholic teaching and tradition to support participants as they:

  • Examine foundational pedagogy and theory of equitable classrooms and schools;
  • Examine school and classroom practices and policies that lead to equity;
  • Conduct an equity-based audit and develop a roadmap for successful implementation of DEI practices and policies;
  • Coach teachers and leaders in their development and implementation of developed DEI practices and policies; and
  • Create a national community of Catholic educators who dialogue with expert leaders and teachers with demonstrated commitment to DEI.

Equity and Justice

"God reveals himself to us as one who is not alone, but rather as one who is relational, one who is Trinity. Therefore, we who are made in God's image share this communal, social nature. We are called to reach out and to build relationships of love and justice." (USCCB website)
